Verdi Ergun writes --
I'm looking for a preferred stock equity partner in a tech business I'm creating this summer for a business competition. If the business is successful, it could become a career. The competition will take place in Holland, Michigan, and span 12 weeks. During those 12 weeks, winners of the competition will receive free office-space, $10,000 - $20,000 cash investment in their business, work on their concept, and have a board of experts in technology and business for coaching and assistance. Every team has two components: the business plan and the technology. I feel I can handle the business plan. I'm looking for someone who is highly familiar with web development of dynamic sites to handle the technology. I'm open to ideas for the business, but I have a few of my own.
A little about myself (who you'll be partnering with): I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan LSA, I earned three majors: Economics, English, and Political Science with a cumulative GPA above 3.0. While in school I started three businesses, one of which was an ice cream truck company called Buy Me Ice Cream. In two years, I grew this business from 2 to 6 ice cream trucks. Another was Ergun Computers: I purchased used computers in bulk from property disposition and sold them on the inexpensive computer market for a markup. Another was Magnetic Connections: I produced the "Student Guide" which may be on your refrigerator right now. It's a product I invented which put relevant student information at the center of an 8" x 6" refrigerator magnet surrounded by relevant ads, such as Cab Companies and Pizza Delivery Restaurants. I sold over 40 advertising contracts and expanded my idea to four schools: Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Washtenaw Community College, and University of Michigan. After graduation I founded Project Power On, a charity that donated 100 computers to 100 low-income families in Washtenaw County. Upon completion of my goal with Project Power On, I decided to reenter for-profit enterprise and started Burrito Joint, a restaurant in Ann Arbor that specializes in Gourmet Burritos and Tacos. In August 2008, I dissolved my partnership to pursue my MBA Program in the fall.
I'm 25 years old and looking for someone similar in age.
To apply, please provide a brief history of your background and experience. Please also provide at least (3) websites you feel showcase your greatest work.
E-mail applications to vergun@gmail.com. Out of state applications will be ignored. Please include contact information.
Entrants have to be willing to relocate to Holland, Michigan for the summer.

We are looking for 3-4 engineers who have the desire to help start something from idea, through research & development, prototyping and help create a successful 21st century company. Our core technology will be based on the principles of Stirling Engine Free Piston designs and associated linear electric generators. Our concept to develop a "Solid Fuel Heat Engine" scalable in designs in the 10-30kW range. Our engines will be used in everything from Emergency Generators for disaster relief to On-Board Generator for Hybrid Electric Vehicles capable of ranges of 600+ miles at a cost of about $5 of fuel.
Skills Needed ;
*Theoretical Modeling - our initial research will rely heavily on design and capacity modeling
*Thermofluidics - Free Piston designs based on expansion, contraction characteristics of helium under pressure and heat/cold variations modeling
* Electromagnetics - Linear electric power generator designs - our concept relies on efficient electric generator using small rapid movements, looking for a module to produce approx 150 watts output which will be combined in various circuits to produce our systems in the 10-30kW output range.
*Electronic/Electric Circuits - Modern solid state robust designs are required for our power circuitry and battery/super capacitor charging systems.
*Materials - Selection of various metals, ceramics, and advanced plastics will be critical for thermal, structural and electrical integrity.
*Hybrid Vehicle Systems - as our research advances to the systems level we will require advanced knowledge of latest advances of hybrid vehicle systems.
This is an opportunity for self-motivated and directed individuals who have the skills and resources to take-on their individual tasks, work closely with the overall system design team and contribute toward the goal of successful research funding. We are looking for people, who can remain at school or their current jobs(s) while putting in the effort to produce the technical writing and preliminary design calculations required for funding requests to various sources.
In exchange for the commitment to work on these funding request efforts, the selected individual(s) will be given an equity position in the company(part ownership).
Compensation for their efforts will come only after successful funding can be received and their are no implied guarantees of reaching that stage. This is an effort only for those people who want to step in a different direction and become a member of an organization that strives for breaking the mold of common, and bringing new technologies to the forefront of their markets. Solid Fuel Engines based on readily available biomass(wood, corn, grass, reed..pellets) may not be a term that is common right now, but with our success, one day it will!
We are looking for faculty, graduate students, or exceptional 4th year candidates ready to take-on real world, team oriented, self directed research. We have received hundreds of applications from Purdue University job postings and we look forward to similar results from University of Michigan from which we will select our start-up team. We have a goal to have our initial team in place by April, so apply early and thank you for considering to make a difference.
